Das Theoriemodul vermittelt Kenntnisse im Bereich der Filmgeschichte wie der Filmtheorie. Die Schwerpunkte liegen in den Feldern Filmästhetik, Filmphilosophie, Medienästhetik, Experimentalfilm und Queer Theory sowie in der Erforschung marginaler und nicht-kanonischer audiovisueller Formen des Films. Die Lehrangebote werden in enger Kooperation mit dem Filmmuseum Frankfurt und dem Deutschen Filminstitut (DIF) sowie einer Reihe weiterer außeruniversitärer Partner durchgeführt.
The theory module imparts knowledge in the field of film history as well as film theory. The focus is on the fields of film aesthetics, film philosophy, media aesthetics, experimental film and queer theory as well as the study of marginal and non-canonical audiovisual forms of film.
